Introduction
Occasionally in a form there is a point where further questions are not necessary, for example if a respondent does not consent to collection of contact information. To reduce the amount of work needed to accomplish this goal, TaroWorks provide a “question” that when shown, ends the data collection task and allow the Field Officer to continue with the next task in the job.
While it is listed as a Question Type in the question builder, it is does not collect data and there is no need to add a End of Form as the last question in the form. It is only needed to provide a quick exit from the form. This document will detail how to add this “End of Form”.

How to Add “End of Form” to your Form |
- Edit an existing draft form or start a new one. Go to the Question Builder tab.
- On the left margin, click End of Form (red arrow) to add the question to the bottom, or click and drag it to insert into your form.
- Enter a Caption. This should be a treated as a title or a header.
- Enter an unformatted message in the Supporting text field. It can store up to 2,000 characters. (It is good practise to let the Field Officer know why and what special steps needs to be done in this case.)
- Click Save to save the section.
Scoring
- Scoring is not available for End of Form.
Logic
- You can set show/hide logic for a piece of End of Form as normal. In fact and End of Form should be controlled by logic or else it would also trigger at the same spot.
- An End of Form “question” cannot be used as condition for other questions.
Field Mapping
- End of Form cannot be mapped to any fields.
Passing Values through Hierarchy Drill Down
- You cannot pass values from fields in the Hierarchy Drill Down into an End of Form “question”.
Tips and Tricks
- If a Field Officer believe the form is erroneously exiting, then she or he can go back and confirm if the right choices were made before the data collection task is over.
- Any questions after End of Form being shown will not be asked. If there are any questions that maps to required fields, sync error might result.
