Introduction
Starting in TaroWorks 4.1, you can export pre-defined codes, rather than response values, for single-select and multi-select questions in your forms. This coding is helpful for importing data into software packages for statistical analysis. Below are the steps for setup and export:
- A. Enable Codes for Single/Multi-Select Options - Coding is an optional feature and will need to be enabled for use. This feature cannot be disabled once enabled.
- B. Enter Codes into Form - Steps to add coding to responses to a question in your Form.
- C. Gather Data - Codes are not displayed to the mobile user.
- D. Export Coding - Steps to exports the codes instead of the response values.
A. Enable Codes for Single/Multi-Select Options
- Click the nine dots on the left of the menu bar.
- Search for "Application Settings" and Click Application Settings.
- Click the triangle next to Optional Codes.
- Check Enable Optional Codes for Single and Multi-Select Questions.
- Click Save.
B. Enter Codes into Form
- Open your Form.
- Edit the single-select or multi-select question for which you'd like to add coding.
- For each response, enter the relevant code.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 2-4 for all of the single/multi-select questions you'd like to code in the form.
- Save and Publish the Form.
- Publish the associated Job.
C. Gather Data
- Gather data as normal. (only the response values will display to the mobile user)
D. Export Coding
- Once the data has been collected, click on the Response Count for the form.
- The responses will load in a new tab. To export codes, select either Export All Answers (Codes) to CSV or select records and click Export Selected Answers (Codes) to CSV.
- Click Export.
- Click OK on the notification that the export will be emailed to the email address associated with your account.
- Retrieve the .CSV file from your inbox.
- You can also export from the More Actions menu next to the Form.
