Custom labels are custom text values that can be translated into different languages to enable multilingual applications.
The following high-level topics will be covered in this article:
A. Create and Translate Custom Labels
- Click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and click on Setup.
- Enter "Custom Label" in the Quick Find box, then select Custom Labels.
- Click New Custom Label button to add a new label.
- Enter Short Description, an easily recognizable term to identify the custom label. The Name is automatically populated. Enter Value, which can be translated into any language that Salesforce supports.
- Click Save.
- Under Translations, click New to enter a new translation.
- Select the Language you are translating into. In the Translation Text field, enter the translated value. This translated text overrides the value specified in the label's Value field when a user's language is the translation language.
- Click Save.
B. Create and Translate Picklist values
To use translated picklist values in TaroWorks Forms, you need to create custom labels as per the steps in A above, then create a global picklist value set and translate them.
- Follow the steps in A above to create custom labels for picklist values to add, e.g, picklist field Gender and options are Male, Female.
- Create a global picklist value set for Gender:
- Click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and click on Setup.
- Enter "Picklist Value Set" in the Quick Find box, then select Picklist Value Set. Click New.
- Enter details of the Global Value Set: Label, Name and Values. Click Save.
Note: The values should be the custom labels of the picklist options translated in step 1.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and click on Setup.
- Translate the options as per the languages setup:
- Go to Setup and enter "Translate" in the Quick Find box, then select Translate.
- Select the Language to translate. Select the Setup Component as Global Value Set.
- Scroll to the Value Label and enter the Value Label Translation for each option. Click Save.
- Repeat for all languages you want to translate.
- Go to Setup and enter "Translate" in the Quick Find box, then select Translate.
- Create the Picklist field in Salesforce to map to the TaroWorks Form.
- Click Object Manager and select Object to add the field.
- Go to Fields & Relationships. Click New. Select Picklist. Click Next.
- Enter Field Label. Select Use global picklist value set created in Step 2 above. Click Next and proceed to save the field.
- Click Object Manager and select Object to add the field.
- Proceed to your TaroWorks Form and create a single select or multi select question and reference the custom labels created.
