10. Using the Geoshape Question Type

Introduction

TaroWorks has a Geoshape question type that you can use when a TaroWorks Mobile User needs to be able to walk around a farmer's plot and be able to capture a Geoshape area to send it to Salesforce. This is commonly used in agricultural or agroforestry contexts.

This document will detail how to add a Geoshape Question to your form and how to answer it in the device.

How to Add a Geoshape Question

1. Edit an existing draft form or start a new one. Go to the Question Builder tab.
2. On the left margin, click Geoshape (red arrow) to add the question to the bottom, or click and drag it to insert into your form.
3. Enter a Caption. Add Supporting text and check Required as desired. 
   1. Allow Users to Save Invalid Polygons. When the Mobile User is selecting the points by walking in the area
   2. Allow Tap to Capture GPS Coordinate ( Deafult). When the Mobile user will select the points from a map
4. Click Save to save the section.

Notes

• Warning: If the question is set as required, your field staff would not be able to complete the form until they have successfully captured a Geoshape using the GPS on the device. This means any other pieces of data on that form and other forms on that job cannot be sent until this is done. (This is also block any other tasks, such as show resource, after the form from being done by the field staff). You are recommended to set this flag only if your are sure that GPS must be included, including in situations where GPS might fail.
• This uses google maps but it's integrated into TaroWorks, not part of an external app. Note that the satellite views only load online - you can still capture points offline but may not see them on a satellite map.

Scoring

• Scoring is not available for Geoshape questions.

Logic

• You can set show/hide logic for a Geoshape question as normal.
• Geoshape question can be used as condition for other questions. It can be either answered or not answered.

Field Mapping

• Compatible field types for mapping are: 
• Text Area Long

Passing Values through Hierarchy Drill Down

• It is not possible to pass values from fields in the Hierarchy Drill Down into a GPS Location question.
