TaroWorks has ~3 major releases a year, and only the 2 latest major versions of our software are supported. It's also important to keep your TaroWorks app updated with all the new features and functionality so that you're getting the most value out of your software. Remember that you must complete all the upgrade steps for each major release. As Salesforce app upgrades are NOT REVERSIBLE, the following are some best practices to employ when conducting a TaroWorks upgrade:
- Read the release notes prior to upgrading.
- Attend the TaroWorks release webinar to ask any questions you may have about the new features.
- Schedule your upgrade at a time of low activity.
- Check you have enough space in your Salesforce Instance
- If conducting a multi-version upgrade:
- Ensure you upgrade through the latest patch on each major version e.g. 6.4.1>6.5.1>7.0.3. (You do not need to upgrade through each version patch e.g. 6.4>6.4.1)
- Advise your mobile users to work-offline during the duration of the upgrade, so they don't waste any data downloading a new mobile version of the app before you've installed the last managed package version.
- It is recommended that you have 2 test devices. One where you'll sync after each major upgrade so that you can verify that you've completed all the upgrade steps for that version. Another that will make the same jump your mobile users will when they sync, so you can test your end user's experience.
- Do not forget to map permissions for the new features to the relevant profiles.
- Before clicking Install, confirm the org you're affecting.
- Do upgrades in an incognito window to avoid sessioning issues with other environments.
- Validate the domain in the URL.
- Validate the previous version displayed in the page makes sense.
